What is Hydrosol ?

When aromatic plant material such as lavender is steam distilled, the water becomes infused with the plant’s water-soluble components.

Here’s how it works…

Botanical material (lavender) is loaded into a still along with pure water. Pressurized steam passes through the plant, breaking open its essential oil “sacs.” As the steam passes through a cooling coil, it condenses back into a liquid—a combination of water and essential oil. The essential oil naturally separates, floating to the top. And the water left is now hydrosol!

At Lavender Falls LLC, we then bottle it as Linen Spray.

Lavender essential oil has long been known for its soothing and calming properties, and its scent is often used to promote relaxation and restful sleep. It is a versatile oil and hydrosol, and can be used in many ways, including as a linen spray. When sprayed on linens or pillows, it helps create a peaceful and calming environment, ideal for winding down before bedtime and providing a better quality of sleep.

The benefits of using a lavender hydrosol includes;

  • Aiding in relaxation and sleep: the scent of lavender is known to help calm the mind and body, making it easier to fall asleep and stay asleep.

  • Freshening linens and clothes: By spraying the mist on linens and clothes, it can freshen them up with a pleasant lavender scent.

  • Removing odors: as it is a natural scent, it can help to neutralize unpleasant odors in fabrics and linens.  You can spray it on linens or directly into the air.

  • All-natural: This spray contains only pure lavender hydrosol, it is free from chemicals, artificial fragrances and synthetic ingredients.

Many of our customers enjoy using our Linen Spray as an all natural body mist to help them relax.  I enjoy adding a small amount to a hot bath for a little extra stress relief on long days.

Be sure to try our Lavender Linen Spray and in the summer months our Cooling Mist created with a blend of Lavender and Peppermint hydrosols is a must-have.
